He gasped, tensing, his expression momentarily furious. Then he grinned again. “Ahh. Refreshing.”
“I’m sure.”
Max grasped her arm and hauled her into the tub, nightgown and all.
“How dare you! You will regret this, Maxwell Barnes.” Grace glared and was about to pull away, but changed her mind. At the moment there was nowhere she’d rather be than lying on top of his naked body, her own body covered in drenched linen. Gazing into his eyes, she braced her hands against his hard, water-slicked shoulders.
“Something tells me I could never regret this, Grace Martin.”
He cupped the back of her head and kissed her.
When their lips parted, she whispered, “Doesn’t this position hurt your ribs?”
“I’ll take the pain,” he said, his voice almost a growl, and once again covered her mouth with his.
His hands roamed over her, caressing her back and gently kneading her bottom.
Grace’s heart beat out of control. She wanted nothing more than for him to take her to his bed and—
