Taking my face in his hands, he stares at me with such intensity I think I might burn up right there. “It won’t be just one night, Shauna. If we do this, I’ll want more.”
My breathing quickens. Oh, how I hope he’ll want more.
He closes his eyes tightly for a moment and shakes his head. “You’re young. You’re—”
And a bit more:
“Old enough to know what I want. From the moment I saw you I wanted you. The question is, what are you afraid of? Commitment? I’m not the clingy type, and I’m not a vampire, so you don’t have to worry about having me around forever.”
The emotion that glistens in his eyes shocks me. “Don’t say that, Shauna.”
“It’s true. Even vampires aren’t really immortal, right?”
“Then you don’t want more?”
“I know what I want now, in this moment. What about you? Do you want it, Daniel? Do you want to make love to me? Do you want my blood?”
