Blurb:
Shunned by her family because of her sexual magic, Max leaves home and finds herself in a small New England town called Whisper. Feeding off sexual energy but having no hope of finding true love, Max considers her magic more a curse than a gift. Then she meets Cal.
The sexy owner of Dragon’s Bar has supernatural secrets of his own. As an outcast shapeshifter female who has chosen to live as a human male, Cal has found a home in Whisper. He knows Max is his soulmate but can these two unlikely partners learn to trust each other completely?
Excerpt:
After the bar closed and they were ready to go home, Cal approached and placed a hand on Max’s lower back. “Want a ride?”
A faint smile touched her lips. “What kind of ride?” She wasn’t sure why she’d started flirting with him, especially since she couldn’t make love with him again, at least not so soon. No matter how strong he seemed, he was still only human.
“Any kind you want,” he said close to her ear, his bearded face tickling her skin. She shivered and smiled, enveloped by warmth and desire more powerful than she’d ever felt before. It was as if this guy were magical too and their powers cried out to each other.
“Are you hungry?” he asked. “We could go to my place for an early morning snack.”
She turned to him and their gazes met. His dark eyes devoured her, arousing her even more.
“Okay,” she said, knowing she should refuse. No doubt one thing would lead to another and she probably wouldn’t be able to resist him. “Do you mind riding on the back of my bike?” he asked.
She shook her head. Actually she loved the idea of sitting that close. At least it was a good excuse to touch him, not that she needed one.
Cal called goodnight to Amber and the remaining staff before he and Max left. He’d parked his motorcycle in the alley behind the bar, so they passed through his office on the way out where he offered her his black helmet with a dragon painted on the top.
“What’s with the dragons?” she asked.
