From the first, Janelle and Wilder are meant to be together. He is everything she could want in a Horseman– handsome, charming and courageous. He literally sweeps her off her feet and takes her on breath stealing flights that make her heart soar even higher than his mighty wings can carry her.
Then her seemingly unstoppable mate is struck down. Wilder is slowly losing his vision and is forced to resign from the Fighting Carriers. Unwilling to see him give up, Janelle convinces him that she can be his eyes. Together they retake the skies in time to help save the Horseman race from a disease that threatens to destroy them.
The following excerpt from VICTORY STALLION is for readers 18 and over.
“Wilder,” Janelle said softly.
He felt a gentle hand on his shoulder and he jerked awake to find himself staring at her. Naked, she sat beside him on the bed, her arms folded over her breasts. His heart leapt at the sight of her and he rose onto his elbows, smiling.
“Another dream,” he said.
“Seems like it.” She grinned. “But I thought once a couple met, they didn’t keep sharing dreams.”
“From what I’ve heard, the dreams won’t stop until we make love.”
“But we–“
“Penetration is required. Or so the rumors say.”
She glanced around. “Where are we, I wonder?”
“My room at the Hall of Fighting Carriers.” He noticed she was shivering and the fire had burned down. Pulling down the blanket, he patted the bed beside him. “Get in.”
Without hesitation, she climbed under the covers and cuddled close to him.
“Much better,” she said, using her bare foot to stroke his calf. Her soft, full lips caressed his cheek and she rested her hand on his chest, gently stroking. “So is this going to be our room if I join you here?”
“Temporarily. We can apply for a plot of land and build a house. It will be much better than living in the Hall.”
She giggled and shook her head.
“What?” he asked.
“I was just thinking that if anyone wakes me up, I’ll punch them in the nose.”
He laughed and squeezed her a bit tighter. “Me too. Speaking of that, we better not waste a perfectly good dream.”
“That would be foolish.”
He shifted position slightly so that he faced her, their legs still entwined. He loved how smooth and firm hers felt. She’d spent her life riding true-horses as well as Horsemen and, in spite of her small stature, she was quite strong. Wilder loved how it felt when she clung to him.
Reaching out, he caressed her face, allowing his fingertips to linger over her chiseled cheekbones. He traced the shape of her nose and lips, then leaned closer and kissed her. The magical intensity of the shared dreamed allowed him to feel everything almost as strongly as reality. He felt the warmth of her lips against his, caught the scent of her skin and hair.
Their lips parted and they held each other’s gaze. Her large amber eyes were so beautiful, so open to him that the magnitude of what they shared struck him, momentarily humbling him. For so many years he’d taken relationships with women lightly. He’d made love, but never been in love.
Now he faced his dream lover, a strong, honorable woman who still retained her vulnerability. He knew by looking into her eyes that she trusted him. Suddenly Wilder wanted to be certain he was worthy of that trust. He vowed then and there that he’d never take his dream lover for granted and would treasure their time together. Not all Horsemen were lucky enough to be gifted with a dream lover.
“Is something wrong?” she asked, placing a hand to his cheek.
“No. Everything is right.” He brushed his thumb over her mouth and she kissed it. Grasping his wrist, she continued holding his hand against her lips and sucked his thumb into her mouth. Her tongue swept it and her teeth nibbled it gently.
A thrill of passion shot through Wilder, making his cock swell and ache and his pulse race.
When Janelle finished with his thumb, she sucked and nipped each of his fingers, then used the tip of her tongue to circle his palm. She kissed the calloused flesh and closed her eyes, a look of tenderness and bliss on her face that struck at his heart.
“Janelle,” he murmured and drew her even closer, his mouth covering hers. His tongue traced the shape of her lips, then thrust between them. He swirled it around her mouth and explored every wet corner. Her tongue swept against his. They licked and teased each other, soft moans of desire escaping their throats.
