“It’s a little late to start now. Besides, any woman who married me has to be irrational.”
“That’s not true.” The words were out before Grace realized what she was saying.
“Then I have a chance with you when we get out of this place?”
Grace’s pulse raced. The last thing she should do was flirt with R. C. Their lives were in danger. Yet if they never got off the island, this could be her only chance to let him know how she felt.
“Sorry,” he said. “I guess my timing isn’t good.”
She followed him to the door where he turned abruptly and took her in his arms. His mouth covered hers. Grace closed her eyes and clung to his neck. She buried her fingers in his thick, wavy hair and pressed his face closer as their tongues explored each other’s mouths.
When the kiss broke, both were breathless.
“Sorry, Grace, but I had to do that. I don’t really give a damn about timing.”
“Neither do I.” She took his face in her hands and kissed him again.
“I guess this means I have a chance,” he breathed. He caressed her waist and his hands moved slowly up her ribs. Then he lightly cupped her breasts.
Grace’s pulse raced and her nipples stiffened. He swept his thumbs over them and she moaned softly.
