When Jake rescues a wounded reindeer less than two weeks before Christmas, he doesn’t realize he has found one of Santa’s reindeer-shifters. The adorable shifter is willing to show his gratitude in sexy ways Jake never expected, but once he flies away will he be gone forever, or will he return as promised on Christmas day?

Fleet started to rise, but Jake stood and placed his hands on his shoulders. It didn’t take much effort for him to push Fleet down. “Go where? You need to heal. I understand the need for privacy, but I can’t help being curious. Shapeshifters from the legends can be pretty mean. You can’t blame me for wanting to know more.”
“Do I seem mean?” Fleet gazed up at him with those huge blue eyes.
Right. He looked about as mean as a good-natured puppy. However, as the old saying went, looks could be deceiving. Fleet was injured. He needed Jake’s help so acting nasty wouldn’t be wise.
Despite his caution, Jake didn’t believe Fleet was trying to trick him at all. Another old saying was the eyes are the mirror to the soul. Jake had always been a good judge of character. He trusted a man who wasn’t afraid to look into his eyes, and Fleet was such a man — even when he’d been in animal form.
“You can’t blame me for being curious,” Jake said. “It’s not every day I meet a creature of legend. I wish my grandfather was still around to see this.”
“You’re going to tell others about me?”
“Don’t worry. You’re safe here. I won’t talk. Like I said before. No one would believe me anyway.”
Fleet glanced past Jake to the coffee table. “Can I have some of those pancakes? They smell so good. That’s why I woke up.”
Jake chuckled and reached for the plate. He put it on Fleet’s lap and was about to return to his chair when the shifter grasped his wrist. His hand was warm now and his skin felt good against Jake’s.
“Thank you for everything,” Fleet said.
Jake nodded and glanced at Fleet’s long, pale fingers wrapped around his darker-skinned wrist. Instead of releasing him, Fleet loosened his grip and ran his hand along Jake’s forearm. Jake’s gut clenched. That touch felt so good. His gaze drifted to Fleet’s face. The shifter’s eyelids were partially lowered as he stared, his own hand caressing Jake’s arm. His slim lips were slightly parted. Jake wondered how they would taste. He wondered how Fleet’s sinewy body would feel pressed chest to chest and thigh to thigh with his.
