What is one of your favorite things about writing? The sense of freedom I get from creating characters, building lives, and living vicariously through them. All the things I can’t or don’t do, my characters can.
What are your favorite research resources? People. Though it’s easy to search the internet for an answer, I prefer to talk to people who live the career or have been through something I’m trying to describe. Their words can make a scene so much more realistic.
Do you find it harder to write novels or short stories? Short stories, definitely. With a novel, you have plenty of room to introduce the characters, set up the plot, establish the setting, and give your characters plenty of room to move, learn, and grow. With a short story, you have to cut out the extraneous, and I’m not always good at that.
Would you tell us about your latest release? My latest release is Keep Our Souls. It’s the final book in the Spirit Series which is the hereafter realm where Angels of Death fall in love.
In Keep Our Souls, Dominic and Cleo have broken a cardinal rule and are in danger of being forced to leave the realm. Only one can stay, and neither one of them can choose.
If you could step into one of your books, which one would it be? I’ve answered this question before, and I thought, by now, my answer would change. It hasn’t. I would step into Indigo Spell which is the first book in my Hot Magic series. There’s just something about the idea of being in a world where wizards and witches are real and where everything you imagined really does exist.
Would you share a favorite quote from your latest hero, heroine or villain? This is a short paragraph of dialogue when the hero of my latest book, Nearly Destroyed, is talking to the villain:
“Before you cross that line, I want you to think about something. You’ll face me soon. How badly you suffer before you die depends on your next move. And trust me when I tell you this, Gary, I know how to make a man cry.”
What are your favorite genres to read and write? I go through phases where I like to read one genre then it changes with the tides. Right now, I’m reading a lot of non-fiction, but I have several paranormal romances lined up to read.
As far as writing goes, I’d definitely have to say suspense. Once upon a time, I would have said paranormal, and I still enjoy writing that, but now that I’ve written several romantic suspense novels, I’m hooked.
