Witches and Demons (Collection): Accursed
by Saloni Quinby
M/M Erotic Paranormal
Blurb:
At the request of his aunt, Medium Maxim Thomas travels to the London mansion of actor Ian Northhill to search for paranormal dangers. The first-born sons in Ian’s family have all died on their thirty-fourth birthday, and Ian’s is just around the corner. The problem is, he doesn’t believe in ghosts, demons or curses.
When Maxim and Ian meet, they’re overwhelmed by lust, but great sex doesn’t change Maxim’s bitterness toward actors or Ian’s loathing of “phony” psychics. Unable to ignore their desire for each other, the men try to overcome their prejudices. While Ian performs a retelling of Jekyll and Hyde on stage, a real life Jekyll and Hyde plots to destroy him. Will Ian trust Maxim enough to allow his lover to save him from the family curse?
Excerpt 1:
If looks could kill, as they say, Ian would die on the spot. Good lord, was he right? Was the handsome and deceptively reserved Maxim truly a jealous wannabe?
“I have never wanted to be an actor, singer or clown in a sideshow.”
Ian burst out laughing.
“Is something funny?”
“Why the venom?”
“Because everything you just said proves my point about those in your profession.”
“What point?” Ian asked, exasperated.
The more intense their conversation, the faster they ran. By now they were going at such a good clip that Ian didn’t think he could carry on the conversation much longer. He’d intended to go at an easy pace this morning. So much for that.
“That you think you’re better than everyone else and should be set apart.”
“I don’t feel that way. It’s people like you that treat me like I’m different.”
“You mean people like those kids at the bus stop!”
“They’re only kids, for goodness sake! Didn’t you admire anyone when you were growing up? Or were you ever a kid? Maybe you were born an old fart.”
“Old fart? I’m not that much older than you!”
“You couldn’t prove it by me now. My grandmother runs faster than this!” Ian must be out of his mind. He wasn’t actually certain he could go much faster. He and Max were already pretty much sprinting.
“Don’t let me hold you back!”
They both stopped talking and turned up the speed. They jumped two low fences in a nearby park, not far from Ian’s house. They had just about completed the three mile circle and thankfully home loomed in the distance.
When they reached the gate, they practically crashed into it, their breathing ragged. Blinking sweat from his eyes, Ian fumbled with the key while Max stood nearby, wiping his forehead with the sleeve of his jacket.
Ian opened the gate and they stepped into the small yard. The high fence was tight and lined by trees, offering privacy that, despite not wishing to agree with Max, Ian needed. He couldn’t even count the times photos of him that he hadn’t even known were taken appeared on the Internet.
“Shit,” Ian panted, flopping onto his back on the ground.
Max lay beside him, catching his breath as well.
“If I’m tired at rehearsal today, I’m blaming you.” Ian grinned, glancing at Max.
Turning to Ian, Max said, “I’m sorry.”
“I wasn’t serious. I always run in the morning–not usually at racing speed, though.”
“I meant I’m sorry if anything I said offended you.”
“You? Say something offensive?” Ian teased.
