What is one of your favorite things about writing?
I like words—always have—and love romances, reading them and writing them.
When you’re brainstorming for a new story, what usually comes first for you, the plot or the characters?
The characters usually come first. I have to wrestle to craft a tight plot.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I’m a big plotter. If I don’t have a path, I tend to wander into the bushes and thrash around.
Can you write sex scenes at any time or do you have to be “in the mood?”
Some scenes are tough, usually the ones with multiple moving parts. If I’ve plotted well, my characters are in the mood for sex when the sex scenes come up and I actually enjoy writing hot sex.
What is the most difficult thing about writing?
Finding time. I have a full time career as a therapist and a part-time side job with my therapist spouse. It gets all busy around here sometimes.
What do you like about writing series books?
I’m actually just starting series, having resisted the trend because I just don’t care about it as a reader. It has been made clear to me, however, that my readers love series, so I’m finally getting the hint.
What do you feel are some of the pros and cons of epublishing?
Epublishing has given authors a great option not to chase the big houses in New York and the recent changes make it harder for authors to make much money at it.
Where do you find inspiration for your stories?
Everywhere. Tiny sparks set my brain running off with new ideas. This can happen from reading, watching movies—both old and new—and random conversations.
What do you like best about writing erotic romance?
*sheepish grin* I like sex, so it’s natural to like writing it. I don’t mind other authors doing different, less heated stories, however. It’s all about the writing and the story itself.
Do you find it harder to write novels or short stories?
I think writing short stories is a skill all its own and so far, I haven’t put much energy into it.
Would you tell us about your latest release?
I have 23 publications out now, the most recent of which is Thankfully Yours, 3rd in the Holiday Romance Series.
What are you working on now?
I’m furiously working on Swaggered, Book 3 in my soon-to-be-released Blue Collar Boys series. Book one—Case’s story—will be published in late October of this year.
Do you have a favorite character or characters you feel especially close to?
Actually, I love them all and I think they’re all wonderful. Really. The one closest to my heart is always the one I’m working at the time.
Would you share one of the sexiest or most romantic lines from one of your books?
“Excitement skittered along her nerve endings at the sight of him, despite her being here to give in to him.” From my book, Challenge Accepted.
Would you tell us about yourself?
I have always loved words and can’t imagine not reading. I am also a therapist with a Ph.D. who first started writing as an escape from grad school boredom. It’s sadly now a little embarrassing to say, but I’ve been married to the same guy—who I still like most of the time—for 37 years. I married young.
Where can we visit you online?
When you’re not writing, what do you like to do?
I really enjoy my career as a therapist and I love riding a motorcycle with my spouse.
Where would you go on your dream vacation?
Somewhere in my second love, my hot yellow sports car.
What is your favorite season?
Anything, but summer. I live in Texas.
Do you have any pets?
I am a cat person who is currently cat-less and very sad about it.
