Shadowed (Box Set)
by Kate Hill
Shadowing angels make sure their charges get the chance every new soul deserves. Born of two demons, Michael is torn between his desire for a normal life and his demonic nature. Rich and sinfully sexy, he has cut himself off from relationships other than physical. When his favorite escort is brutally murdered, Michael uses his demonic skills to find her attacker, but Britt believes he’s to blame, and she’s determined to bring her sister’s murderer to justice. Can she keep from falling in love with a man torn between good and evil?
The son of a sex demon and a fallen angel, Oliver struggles to keep his libido under control while on duty as a shadowing angel in the wilderness of Alaska. He needs help and it arrives in the form of a sexy, no-nonsense former demon. Henrie, a shadowing angel with experience, is the perfect woman to assist a man desperate to regain his self-control. What she discovers is he actually needs to cut loose, especially on the evil forces that are secretly plotting to destroy him.
Sinister knows that a demon impersonating an angel must be breaking some cosmic rule, but that’s the least of his worries. By loving Jayden and surrendering to his good side, he has sealed his fate and will be destroyed by his hellish masters. Jayden is used to working on her own, but she ends up with a rather strange guardian angel, one she can’t help loving. Can they find a way to save a demon with an angelic soul?
Publisher’s Note: Shadowed Box Set contains the previously published novellas Frenzied, Alaskan Flame, and I’ll Be Damned.
Excerpt from the Shadowed Box Set
Britt watched Michael sleep for several moments. When Loren had called and asked her to meet him at Michael’s house, she’d closed the store early and immediately done what he’d asked. Seeing Michael injured made her realize how much he meant to her and even though they hadn’t known each other long, she was falling in love with him.
He might be a demon and practically immortal, but he could still be hurt. If he was destroyed, he would spend eternity in hell. It didn’t seem fair, not when he’d dedicated his life to helping the angels keep the world safe. He protected people and that should count for something.
She was about to go when Michael moaned and shifted uncomfortably. His breathing quickened and sweat beaded on his brow.
“Michael,” she said, gently nudging his shoulder.
He snapped awake, panting and his eyes gleaming. Upon seeing her, he relaxed.
“Nightmare,” he whispered.
“Tell me,” she said, taking his hand. His grip tightened almost painfully, but she didn’t try to pull away. “It’s all right. You’ll feel better if you talk about it.”
“I was in hell. My parents were there, dragging me down deeper and deeper into a flaming pit, just like they tried to do before Rutendo banished them.”
“It’s all right.” Britt leaned closer and kissed his cheek. “You’re safe.”
He shook his head. “No. I’m going there. Maybe not tonight. Maybe not in twenty years, but when my time comes –”
“Don’t say that. The angels won’t let that happen.”
“The angels won’t purify a full demon. Half demons are different, but someone like me –”
“You’re a good man, Michael.” She squeezed his hand and stared into his eyes. “No one, neither angel nor demon, will make me believe differently.”
“I wish I had your faith — but in a way I do. As long as you’re with me, you and Loren, I’ll be okay. Come here.” He tugged her toward him and she climbed onto the bed.
Michael drew her close and she rested her head against his shoulder.
The angels couldn’t ignore all he’d done. Could they?
