“Blair, it was an accident. I walked into Daria’s fist. How many times have you been mildly injured during fighting practice? It’s part of the risk.”
“I don’t like to see you hurt, that’s all.”
May nodded. If he reacted this way to an accidental bruise, how would she convince him to see her through the fever of Change?
“Are you hungry?” May asked. “We were just having dinner.”
“I think Daria and Hamilton have moved directly to dessert,” Blair remarked.
Hamilton had taken a seat at the table and Daria was perched on his lap, their mouths locked in a kiss better saved for the bedroom.
May gazed at him through her lashes. “And it looks rather delicious. Shall we go upstairs and indulge as well?”
“I think you’ve learned to read my mind without taking the Change.”
“Funny you should mention that.” She took his hand and tugged him toward the door.
