What is one of your favorite things about writing?
One of my favorite things about writing is getting to create worlds where my characters can live. And I always hope that readers will enjoy the worlds that I have created. Writing is fun and stressful all at the same time. I love to get away from reality and slip into my imagination.
When you’re writing, who is more in control, you or your characters?
When I am writing, I start off in control, but then my characters normally take over and tell me where they want to go. I can have an overall outline for the book, but my characters grab the reins and go Yeehaw all over the place and wait for me to catch up.
What do you like about writing series books?
I like to write series books because I can expand on the word my characters live in and see where they can go from there. And I get to learn about the world as I am writing the book.
Do you find it harder to write novels or short stories?
For me it’s harder to write short stories. I have a tendency to write novels. My sweet spot seems to end up being about 80k words or so after edits. Although when I write the books they are 100k before editing. I like the details and I find short stories too confining for me.
Would you tell us about your latest release?
My latest release is called Sleigh Balls (Reindeer Games) out with Changeling Press.
It is about Barnabee getting thrown out of Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve and landing on Julian’s lawn, naked and cold. Julian takes pity on the naked man only to realize this mysterious man isn’t exactly what he seems to be. Barbabee takes a chance on Julian and reveals his true nature of being a reindeer shifter to him. And of course, frolicking and Christmas happiness ensues.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on edits for a novel called Death’s Revival. It’s the second book in my Deathly Encounters series. However, it is a standalone horror novel. What happens when a grim reaper comes back to life? How does the universe restructure? Who is killing all of these women? Kerstin has to face all these questions when she is not given a choice and thrown back into a life she left over two years ago. She’s put on the case to investigate the grisly murders only to discover a large plot behind them.
Would you give us a sneak peek at one of your upcoming releases?
Sure thing. I have a release coming out in January with Purple Sword Publications called The Dragon & His Houseboy.
Saeran’s dreamed about retiring from his lifestyle as a male prostitute for a while. But would catering to a dragon shifter be the best thing? Dragons are known to bite now and again.
Barro is enamored with Saeran and his luscious body. Inviting Saeran back to his house to be at his beck and call seemed the logical thing to do at the time. When Saeran accepts, he is overjoyed and can’t fight the growing attraction between them.
Saeran becomes more to Barro than the houseboy he originally planned on. The question is, what exactly is Saeran becoming? They open their hearts to one another, and all secrets are revealed.
If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
It would have to be Azrael. He is the Angel of Death in the majority of my books. He crosses universes and dimensions to pop up in different series. I know it’s probably an odd characters to want to meet, but he’s in over fifty of my books. He’s been there since the first series I wrote so I guess he’s grown on me.
Would you tell us about yourself?
What is there to tell about me? I’ve been married for 11 years. I’m from Massachusetts, but I met my husband, who is also from MA, in North Carolina. I’ve always wanted to write. I wrote my first series of books about the Tearoom I used to do psychic readings at. I worked there through college reading tea leaves, runes, tarot cards, palms, did a few séances, and a few other things. I’ve lived in at least three haunted houses. I read a lot, love to croquet and do cross stitch. My day job is in the insurance business. In the years I have been writing, I have written close to 100 books, been through 17 different publishers, and have learned a whole lot. I love horror movies, most anything with vampires, and snuggling with my dogs.
What are your favorite genres to read and write?
I love to read horror, fantasy, and urban fantasy novels. I’m not a fan of romance novels, but if it looks interesting I’ll try to read it. Writing…well I tend to write Paranormal Romance novels with different elements in them. These days I am working on a balance of writing paranormal, horror, and urban fantasy novels.

How long have you been writing?
Gosh. I have been published for about ten years now. However, I have been writing since I was twelve. The first thing I wrote was a wonderful fantasy novel involving unicorns and magic.
Do you have any particular writing habits? (Listening to music, best time of day to write, etc.)
Usually when I write I am listening to music or watching something for background noise. If I’m watching a movie, it’s a horror movie I’ve seen a million times so I know what’s going to happen.
What is your favorite season?
I love the fall. Smelling the leaves and watching them fall. Getting ready for Halloween and all the decorations are my favorite.
What book are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Buffy the Vampire Slayer Omnibus 1
Do you have any pets?
I do have pets. I have three dogs.
An 11 year old Black Lab named Morrigaine. An 8 year old Black Lab/Border Collie mix named Cadence. And a 2 year old English Pointer/Whippet mix named Briar who is the troublemaker of the bunch. But we love them all. Morrigaine is the most spoiled of the bunch though. We’ve had her since she was 5 weeks old.
