When you’re brainstorming for a new story, what usually comes first for you, the plot or the characters?
It’s usually a full-blown scene—dialogue included—playing over and over in my head. It may not happen until the middle of the book, but gives me the kernel of a story that grows from there.
Are you a plotter or a pantser?
I’m a hybrid. Started out as a pantser, but have adopted a bit of plotting as time has gone by.
Can you write sex scenes at any time or do you have to be “in the mood?”
I’ll write a sex scene whenever the story gets there. I don’t have to be ‘in the mood’, just write what comes next. However, when I get there, I don’t have any problems with ‘follow-through’. Ha!
What is the most difficult thing about writing?
Facing the blank page, as I’m about to do with the next project. Always daunting…but once I get into the story, I’m good.
What do you like about writing series books?
Revisiting characters that I love and know so well…like old friends.
What do you feel are some of the pros and cons of indie publishing?
The biggest Pro for me is being able to write the stories that resonate with me exactly as I want to write them without constraints. The biggest Con would be having to do everything myself—all the business that takes time away from the joy of just writing.
Would you tell us about your latest release?
Immortal Savior is the 2nd book in my Immortal Prophecy series. http://tinyurl.com/zzg3tpe
Immortal Dory Winthrop hasn’t been the Chosen One for long, but she’s already discovered that the responsibility doesn’t come without its share of trials and triumphs. Now, she and her Warrior—the man she loves, face a new threat: someone is targeting Immortals, and they aren’t excluded from the list. Together, they must discover the motive behind the deaths and unmask the killer before the lethal plan spills over into the mortal world placing humanity at risk.
New Immortal, Warrior Kaden Crenshaw, is an ex-cop abruptly pulled into a compelling and mysterious world filled with limitless possibilities, a world he’s just beginning to explore. But with this new threat on the horizon, there’s not much time to get up to speed. He’ll need to adapt quickly and lead his team with fierce determination, if he wants to protect the Chosen One and ensure the safety of all.
What are you working on now?
Immortal Savior released on November 10th, so I’ve been on a break. But I’m off the day job until after the first of the year, so I’m starting Sandman’s Lullaby, book two in my Guardian series.
Would you share one of the sexiest or most romantic lines from one of your books?
From Search for the Mystic Stone, book one of the Guardian series:
“Then maybe you’re just not my type,” he murmured against her lips as he gazed into her eyes.
“Oh my. Oil and water, is it?” she asked in a low seductive tone.
The next moment he caught her by surprise when he spun her around and pressed her roughly against the wall. “I was thinking more like fire and gasoline,” he replied before his lips crushed down on hers.
If you could meet one of your characters, which one would it be?
Definitely Dory from the Immortal Prophecy series. She’s over 300 years old. I would have sooooo many questions.
Would you tell us about yourself?
I worked for an airline for 22 years, but now live outside a small town on the Oregon coast and work for the County. I’ve traveled extensively and lived all over the country.
What are your favorite genres to read and write?
I have very eclectic taste when it comes to reading. I started out with all things Stephen King, then got hooked on historical romance with Kathleen E. Woodiwiss, and moved on to contemporary with Nora Roberts…just to name a few. Give me a great story—doesn’t matter the genre as long as the writing and storyline grab me.
When writing, my favorite genres are urban fantasy & paranormal romance. I intersperse cozy mysteries here and there, which I never thought I’d write but also like very much.

When you’re not writing, what do you like to do?
My background is in theater. We all start out playing ‘pretend’ as children. Theater & writing are a way for me to keep ‘pretend’ alive in adulthood. I’m on the board for my local theater and am fortunate to have that outlet for my creativity when I’m not writing.
To you what makes a great romance hero?
My ideal hero is strong, confident, and comfortable in his own skin. He has a snarky sense of humor, but is never cruel. He has a sensitive side that surprises you when you least expect it. Always tries to do the ‘right thing’. Someone you can always count on.
To you what makes a great romance heroine?
Again, strong & confident enough to go toe-to-toe with the hero. Never intimidated…at least, never shows it. Usually has a smart mouth to go with it, but can be incredibly caring and compassionate.
Name three fictional characters (not your own) that you find hot. They can be from books, movies, or TV.
Just one tops the list for me: Roarke from J.D. Robb’s In Death series. In my opinion, he’s the perfect alpha male. Strong, confident, and sexy as hell!
What is your favorite season?
Fall – Halloween is my favorite holiday!
What book are you currently reading?
Just finished Island of Glass by Nora Roberts last night. Last book in the trilogy. Great series. About to start Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare.
Do you have any pets?
Three reeeaaally spoiled cats.
