This week’s subject for the MFWA’s 52-Week Blog Challenge is “Let’s Play What if Time and Money Weren’t Issues.”
If time and money weren’t issues, I would spend more time doing activities I enjoy, like working out, watching movies, reading, and writing. Even more important, I would spend additional time with my loved ones.
Other than books, movies, and some horror-themed collectibles, I don’t fantasize about spending a lot of money. I’m not into expensive cars, vacations to exotic places, or fancy clothes. To me, money not being an issue would mean knowing my household bills are taken care of. The time I wouldn’t spend at my day job would be spent with my family and my books. That said, I’m not sure that I would actually want to give up my day job. My friends are there, and I enjoy working with them.
This particular blog topic has helped me realize that at the moment I’m a pretty happy person, even though time and money are issues. That’s a pretty satisfying discovery. Has that ever happened to you, that you start out thinking “what if” and end up realizing you’re pretty lucky after all?

What’s that quote? Something about happiness = wanting what you have. Hubs and I discussed this recently. We both expected to WANT to travel more during our retirement years, but we really don’t. There’s wisdom in accepting that you want what you want, not what you SHOULD want, eh?
I find the “what if” game usually leads to discontent, because we focus on what we don’t have. If we adjust that focus to what we do have, then we realize it’s quite a lot. Count your blessings.
