After hearing these stories of love and murder, will Laura decide to spend the night at Demon’s Grotto?
Excerpt:
Glancing at herself in the bathroom mirror, she thought she looked pretty good. She hoped Declan thought so, too. He had such an amazing body that she imagined most people appeared out of shape to him, but Holly had an active job and she worked out several times a week. Besides, he had kissed her first, so he must find her attractive.
Holly lay back in bed, changing her position several times, wondering how best to present herself. She wanted to look sexy for him.
Finally she lay still, her heart beating fast.
Time passed. She felt disappointed and then angry. The bastard wasn’t coming back after all. She felt like a damn fool.
Declan was a weird jerk and she should have known he would do something like this. Then a tap on the door preceded his entrance.
“Sorry. There was a line at the pharmacy down the street,” he said, running a hand through his damp hair. “And I wanted to take another shower.”
She smiled. He’d changed his clothes, too, trading his scruffy jeans and plaid shirt for snug black pants and a sweater that hugged his sculpted torso.
He carried a box of condoms, and his jaws worked on a piece of gum that he turned and spat in the wastebasket before approaching the bed.
Holly laughed.
“What?” he asked, his dark eyes widening a bit.
“That was really classy, Declan.”
“Did you want me to come to bed with a wad of gum in my mouth?” he asked, the hint of a smile playing around his voluptuous mouth, as he kicked off his shoes. He hadn’t bothered wearing socks.
“You’re probably the least pretentious guy ever.”
He straddled her on the bed, bracing a hand on either side of her head. Brushing the tip of his aquiline nose against hers, he said, “And you’re beautiful.”.

Declan has no time for pretense. LOL
I can see this happening. Well done!
Interesting characterization.
Loved the excerpt. She’s ready and I liked her “reallt Classy,” comment
A promising beginning for their tryst.
