Trouble in Paradise
by Kate Hill
Romantic Suspense
Before cell phones and reality TV, when women had big hair and men were all about action and adventure, a girl walks into a bar searching for a hero. She finds R. C. Benson, a soldier turned grave robber wallowing in past sins. With a marriage of convenience, a pet shark and a shady butler, Grace and R. C. have their work cut out for them, but that gives them the perfect chance to fall in love.
Excerpt:
The Flower Garden’s dining room took up almost the entire first floor of the house. Still it was only large enough for seven tables.
A lanky teenage boy, menus in hand, greeted them. The bottom of his concert T-shirt disappeared beneath the half folded white apron around his waist.
“Hey, R. C., what’s up?” The boy grinned. “Could have used you in the game last night.”
“I’m getting too old for basketball, Mike.” R. C. winked. “You kids wear me out.”
“Yeah, right.” Mike raised his eyes to heaven. “Come on. I’ll take you to your table, old man. You guys want coffee?”
“Tea,” Grace replied. “With honey and lemon.”
“I’ll have coffee,” R. C. said. “Black.”
Once they were seated at a small, round table next to a picture window overlooking the brook running behind the house, they glanced over their menus.
“I’m so hungry,” Grace said.
R. C. was surprised he felt hungry too. His headache was fading, the day was pleasant, and he was sharing a meal with an attractive woman. He’d almost forgotten how good life could be.

Relly intriguing excerpt.
Okay, but . . . didn’t the blurb mention he was married? I’m sure you’ve got that covered, but I’m curious. How does that factor into this budding romance?
Thank you, Janet!
Thank you for commenting, Ed! Yes, Grace and RC get married to each other before the adventure starts. 🙂
