Trouble in Paradise

Romantic Suspense
Before cell phones and reality TV, when women had big hair and men were all about action and adventure, a girl walks into a bar searching for a hero. She finds R. C. Benson, a soldier turned grave robber wallowing in past sins. With a marriage of convenience, a pet shark and a shady butler, Grace and R. C. have their work cut out for them, but that gives them the perfect chance to fall in love.
Excerpt:
“Mind if I turn off the light?” he asked.
“Go ahead.”
Moments later, the room went black. She felt the bed sink a bit as he climbed onto the mattress. How had he managed to see in the dark? She probably would have at least stubbed her toe finding her way to the bed.
“Nice bed,” R. C. remarked.
“It’s comfortable.”
They fell silent. Grace tried to relax, but couldn’t. Not with this gorgeous, half-naked man beside her.
“Grace?”
“Yes?”
“If I tell you something, will you promise not to be scared or offended?”
“What?”
“You smell good.”
“I smell good?”
“Like a woman should smell. A little sweet, a little spicy, a little–”
“Good night, Benson.”
“Can’t blame a guy for flirting.”
“Well it’s not working.”
What a lie.
