Every week in the WeWriWa blog hop, writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories. Last week, the snippet from my paranormal romance Fangs and Fists: Haylen, left off with the witch Maddy, irritated with Haylen for his lack of emotional support while she worried about her family. (Yes, she should consider that demons and emotional support don’t mesh.) This week continues the scene.
Turning to meet her wounded gaze, he said, “I’m a demon. We don’t speak words of encouragement.”
“If you love that life so much, why didn’t you stay in the tower?”
“Under their control? No thank you.”
“As long as you keep thinking like them, you’re still under their control.” She turned back to the wall.
“Touché,” Haylen whispered, but she didn’t speak again. A short time later, he knew by the rhythm of her breathing she had fallen asleep.
About Fangs and Fists: Haylen
(Erotic Paranormal Romance)
Faith healer turned resurrection demon, Haylen served the masters for centuries, creating legions of the soulless. By bargaining with the rebels fighting the demon masters, Haylen was freed from a tracking device viciously implanted in his spine and reinforced with evil magic. Now armed with both his demonic powers and his former angelic gift of healing, he can choose his part in a world where good and evil are constantly at war.
Maddy, a young mechanic with magical powers, has studied Haylen’s history and finds the demon fascinating, but she’s even more intrigued by the man he can become. Haylen appears to return her interest, but will the good witch save the demon’s soul, or will he corrupt hers?
