In reality, I wouldn’t want to time travel. The past is too depressing and the future is too precarious. Since the idea of time travel is, at least now, a fantasy, if I had to choose, I would go far into the future. I’ve always loved the Time Machine (1960) and the world of the future in that movie. No, I wasn’t keen on the Morlocks, but the quietness, beauty, and lack of drama (until George got there) appealed to me. I also liked the eeriness. As a fantasy trip to the future, I’d probably go there. In reality, no way!

If a visit to the far-distant future offered hope, you’d return a happy prophet. If not, think of the shadow that’d cast over the rest of your life, especially if you have children. What a dilemma. You should write a book about that.
To know the future and not have the power to change its more dreadful aspects would be torture.
