Wytchfae Runes
Blurb:
Wytchfae Kelly O’Day’s job is to transition ghosts to the afterlife. The last thing she expects is to fall for one of them — sexy Viking Ingvar Hrothson.
Cursed to roam the earth as a restless spirit, Ingvar is hell bent on destroying the sorceress responsible. Hating all forms of dark power, his reaction to Kelly sends him reeling. He never dreamed he would be bewitched by a flesh and blood woman with magical powers.
Kelly and Ingvar battle sinister forces and multiple attempts on their lives. With their attraction approaching supernova, the couple must decide whether their romance of a lifetime is also worth fighting for.
Excerpt:
The creatures on the ceiling were not natural, at least not in Ingvar’s world.
His heart hammered with the knowledge that this place was not his world. The Grims ruled here.
Magic had dragged him to this underworld hell. He feared only magic would get him out.
A feeling of helplessness threatened to overtake him, and he warded it off with a stiff intake of breath. He could not allow fear or unease to dilute his attention. He had to concentrate on escape. Saving his sister by unwinding the yarn of time and forcing revenge on the sorceress Skada was all that mattered.
The spot on the rocky wall pulsated where the Grims had pummeled him through into this world. He had no doubt he could find it in the dark. Unfortunately, he had no magic to flip it into reverse. To open the door, as Kelly phrased it.
Kelly. Ingvar’s lips softened. Although he had never thought to be drawn to a magical woman, memories of the brave Wytchfae fortified him. He could almost catch the sunshine scent of her hair and feel her skin, soft and silky beneath his fingers. He half expected to see her appear at any moment, having somehow concocted a plan using moonlight and shadows entwined with her own special magic. She was not the type to give up.
Part of him hoped she had flown back to her own time and her cheerful home in Florida. He wanted to picture her safe, enjoying chocklot puffs and contending with ordinary ghosts rather than cursed ones.
Longing for Kelly pierced his gut.
He looked up in alarm as the creatures above him fluttered restlessly.
Whatever the plans were, he had no intention of being Grim fodder. His brain raced to prepare and be ready for anything, to select the best course of action from the choices presented. Born of long practice, each moment hung on him now in ultra-clarity until he felt time suspend like water droplets into individual units. This readiness he knew well, the warrior’s frame of mind, forged from the sound of iron clanging iron.
