When the heroine is attacked by a demon, she doesn’t like the idea of not being able to protect herself, but he has a solution to her problem.
“Everyone needs help sometimes, but I get what you’re saying.”
“Do you, though?” Mysti narrowed her eyes at him. “You have this gift, or weapon, that you can use to defend yourself against demons — something most people don’t even believe exist.”
“You think I’m a one-man army or something? Baby, it took me a long time to perfect my weapon, and I had lots of support from my — Hey. Wait a minute. You’re my woman — my destiny. My family is your family. Mysti, do you want to learn how to defend yourself against creatures like the one we met tonight?”
