Hello! It’s time for the WeWriWa blog hop. Participating writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories. This week’s excerpt is from my upcoming paranormal romance Trinity and Jeff. It’s the second story in the Wild Witches of Beaver Bay series and will soon be released by Changeling Press. In this scene, Trinity has been called by magic to her family’s ancestral land to meet her soulmate. Her best friend who is also in love with her, meets her there and she’s not happy about it.
“You’re on vacation, Jeff, and you work hard all year long. Don’t you at least want to relax and do what you want instead of wasting your time babysitting me?”
“You don’t need a babysitter, and if there’s a chance you might not be safe up here, then there’s no way I’m going to enjoy myself.”
“You think about me too much.”
“We’re friends. I’d be worried about any of my friends in this situation.”
Trinity raised an eyebrow and smiled knowingly. “So if your buddy Carl from the firehouse was up here to meet the woman of his dreams, you’d follow him to make sure she wouldn’t slip poison into his beer?”
Jeff’s expression stiffened.

His change of expression is very telling. No doubt he was hoping he wouldn’t be pressed to explain further.
I do believe trouble is on the way. Well done!
I love this exchange. You can easily tell the depth of his feelings. Great job! 🙂
Nice set up of their relationship. Let him explain his way out of that!
Oh, she got under his skin with her comeback question. Nice!
Good dialogue. It reveals their relationship.
