Trinity and Jeff (Wild Witches of Beaver Bay)
by Kate Hill
(Paranormal Romance)
Blurb
Denying her love for her childhood friend, Jeff, Trinity visits her family’s ancestral land, believing the Wild family magic has called her there to meet her soulmate. Instead she finds danger at every turn, but she won’t have to face it alone.
Jeff has loved Trinity his whole life, but settled for friendship after she broke his heart on prom night. Now this soldier turned firefighter faces the supernatural to protect Trinity and convince her once and for all that they belong together.
Excerpt:
Jeff dragged a napkin over his mouth and raised an eyebrow. “You’re about to meet your dream man and you’re nervous? That doesn’t seem right.”
“I never said he’s my dream man. He’s my soulmate. That’s. . .different.”
“How?”
“One is fantasy. The other is destiny.”
Jeff leaned forward, his dark, piercing eyes fixed on her. “What if you’ve already met him?”
She shook her head. “Oh no. You’re not going to start this crap again. You promised –”
“Just hear me out. You said the family magic calls you and your soulmate to this cabin or this piece of land. I’m here. You’re here. Why can’t I be the one?”
She should be angry at him, but instead sadness and affection almost overwhelmed her. Tears welled in her eyes, but she fought them back. “Jeff, it doesn’t work that way.”
“Can you at least explain why?”

I love that line – one is fantasy, the other is destiny. It’s a great hook!
Great hook, now I want to read what’s next…

Wow! Great excerpt. I like Jeff already and I’ve just met him! Why can’t he be the one? I want to know.
I love the tension between them. She’s so focussed on the idea of destiny that it becomes a real issue for them to deal with.
