It’s time for the WeWriWa blog hop in which participating writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories.
Last week’s snippet from Warrior Priest ended with the nuns of Covenant informing the priestesses of Neidress that they would be continuing the cultural exchange in the company of Warrior Priests. One of the priestesses’ guards speculated that the Warrior Priests’ temple is actually a military base.
This week’s snippet continues where last week’s left off.
The abbess stared at him calmly. “Perhaps in your world it would be considered a military base, but the warrior priests are dedicated to our religion. To learn from them is a great honor.”
Selena glanced at Franklin and the other guard, Grant. By their stony expressions, they didn’t quite believe the nun.
“It will be fine,” Elspeth told the guards. “Selena and I are prepared to meet the warrior priests and try to understand their ways. As priestesses, we’re open to learning from all cultures.”
“You will each be assigned a warrior priest who will be your guide during your visit. As agreed by our governments, the priests will then accompany you back to your world where they will observe your ways.”
About Warrior Priest
(Science Fiction Romance)
What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?
Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.
Selena is both attracted and appalled by his old school masculinity, and Jade is tempted to break his vow of celibacy until marriage due to his powerful desire for her. Will this unlikely pair not only find common ground, but unconditional love?
Coming in 2020.

Sounds like a simple exchange, though I wonder if it will really be so simple.
It sounds like a big commitment–with the priests following them back to their world to observe them. Not sure I trust them…
Good snippet.

oooooo warrior priests! I love it!
It sounds reasonable – obviously there will be unforeseen consequences.
Interesting setup for the story to come. Enjoyed the snippet!
What a simple yet very nifty premise for a book!
Well this opens up all kinds of possibilities for learning and fraternization! Nice snippet!
So a simple exchange between cultures – hmmm – how much trouble is all of this going to cause?

I’m curious about how this arrangement will pan out.
This should be interesting. I agree with the others about it not being so simple.
