“You could have woken me up to say goodbye in person. Are you home?”
“No.”
“Where are — hang on. Someone is knocking on my door. I think it’s the guy here to fix the window. Can I call you back?”
“Yeah. In a while. I need to take a shower and stuff.”
“Were you sleeping?”
“I was. What time is it?”
“It’s almost noon. Are you okay?”
Noon! So much for ten minutes.
“Yeah. I’m good. Did you answer the door?”
“I’m on my way. Talk to you later.”
“Trin –” She had already disconnected the call. Apparently she was over her fear from last night, and that meant he should be over whatever had almost happened between them. He was done making a fool of himself.
A new Jeff Greco had awakened today.
