Welcome to the WeWriWa blog hop, in which participating writers share 8-10 sentences from one of their stories.
Last week, my snippet from Warrior Priest ended with the abbess asking Selena and Elspeth if on their world only people from their religion are pacifists, or if most people from Neidress are as well. The following snippet continues the scene.
“We have military, as you know, but we prefer peaceful negotiations whenever possible. We focus more on medical technology than on warfare.”
“Which is why our worlds wish for an alliance. You need our strength, and we can benefit from your medical advances. Our warrior priests will prove that this alliance is useful to you.”
“Our government is already impressed with your military power,” Elspeth said. “We’ve been grateful for your protection over the past year when Kimbri threatened us.”
Ever since Queen Opal of Neidress supported the revolution on the planet Timbri, the Emperor of Kimbri had a vendetta against them. Covenant had aided that same revolution by sending warrior priests to fight alongside the rebels on Timbri. Without them, the rebellion would have most likely failed.
About Warrior Priest
(Science Fiction Romance)
What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?
Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.
Selena is both attracted and appalled by his old school masculinity, and Jade is tempted to break his vow of celibacy until marriage due to his powerful desire for her. Will this unlikely pair not only find common ground, but unconditional love?
Coming in 2020.

Definitely a symbiotic relationship in the making.
It does seem like a mutually beneficial alliance, but I wonder if the mightier of the two power can be trusted…
Good writing, Kate!
There might be tension in such an alliance.
I just hope that the more powerful of the two can be trusted. A pacifist and a military priest… Is that oil and water? Or maybe gasoline and a match? 🙂
Sound like the perfect pairing – what on earth could go wrong? Can’t wait to find out.
I’m curious to know if the alliance will prove as good as they think.
Seems as if they have a good foundation for forming a better alliance…of course so many things could happen and probably will! Enjoyed the snippet!
Sounds like a good alliance. We just have to wait to see if it works.
