Trinity and Jeff (Wild Witches of Beaver Bay)
by Kate Hill
(Paranormal Romance)
Blurb
Denying her love for her childhood friend, Jeff, Trinity visits her family’s ancestral land, believing the Wild family magic has called her there to meet her soulmate. Instead she finds danger at every turn, but she won’t have to face it alone.
Jeff has loved Trinity his whole life, but settled for friendship after she broke his heart on prom night. Now this soldier turned firefighter faces the supernatural to protect Trinity and convince her once and for all that they belong together.
Excerpt:
“We should stay together,” Mysti suggested, stepping into their room.
“If you guys don’t mind, I’m getting dressed,” Trinity said.
Mysti turned away to give her privacy. Jeff peered out the window, but the woods were still. There was no sign of Starr, his family, or any demons. That had to be bad, like the calm before the storm.
“I hope my weapon works if I need it to.” Trinity’s dark gaze darted around the room as she pulled on jeans and a tank. Despite her shivering, she looked determined. “Okay, I’m dressed.”
“We’ll be okay,” Mysti said. “I’ve seen Starr and his parents in action. Those demons don’t stand a chance. And the protection spells around this house have worked on some pretty nasty demons back in Maryland.”
The window shattered. A powerful hand grabbed the back of Jeff’s jeans and hauled him outside. He tumbled across the slanted roof. A fur-covered demon with blazing eyes and glistening fangs tore the shotgun from Jeff’s hand, but that was the least of his concerns. He rolled down the roof, but managed to catch himself on the edge. The demon howled and crawled toward Jeff with the swiftness of a crab on a tree trunk. The roof wasn’t too far from the ground, so Jeff let go and landed with a grunt. The creature howled again, and inside Mysti and Trinity screamed.

Sounds like the demons are in charge. Hopefully not for long.
Wow this is a real hook. Curious about these characters and demons.

Wow, lots of action. I loved the ‘famous last words’ about the protection spells, too.
I didn’t see the shattered window coming! Great hook. I hope Trinity’s weapon works too.
