The Five Best Places I’ve visited is this week’s topic. Overall, I’m not much for travel. My idea of a great vacation is working around the house, getting in some extra exercise, reading, writing, and watching movies all night. However, I’ve been lucky enough to have visited some wonderful places. When I sat down to think about this topic, the following are the first five places that came to mind.
Plaze de Espana in Seville

Way back in the 1990s, I visited Spain, Portugal, and Morocco. I saw beautiful things in all three, including the Plaza de Espana in Seville. Unfortunately I took very few photos during my trip, and the ones I have are from disposable cameras, which was what I had with me at the time.
National Naval Aviation Museum

Back in high school, I visited a friend in Florida whose dad was in the Navy. I have so many great memories of the time I spent with her family. I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the aviation museum. It was a vacation I’ll never forget.
Hammond Castle Museum

It’s been ages since I’ve been to Hammond Castle Museum, but when I was younger and living in Massachusetts, I visited often. It’s a beautiful place and a great inspiration for creativity.
National Coach Museum in Lisbon, Portugal

The coaches in this museum are gorgeous. It’s a look back in time. Unfortunately, I have no photos from my visit, but it’s definitely one of the best places I’ve ever visited.
The White Mountains, New Hampshire

New Hampshire has always been my favorite place, especially the White Mountains. If you’re looking to camp, hike, or just admire gorgeous scenery, this is the place. I feel lucky to live just a short drive away!

I tend to prefer vacationing closer to home most of the time, too. The Hammond Castle Museum does sound cool, though.
My post.
I mean yeah, you pretty much had me at “castle museum” — that’s sort of the intersection of two of my great loves. But the White Mountains look gorgeous, and I’m ever-so-slightly jealous of your trip through Spain and Portugal; for a couple of years in college, I was majoring in Spanish — but when I went abroad, it was as part of a Medieval Studies trip. Still put the Spanish to good use, but if I’d actually gone to Spain I might have stuck with the major.
Are you in NH? I live in S. NH … and agree with you on the mountains (I mentioned the Kanc in my post here: http://www.mariannearkins.com/wednesday-weekly-blogging-challenge-5-best-places-ive-visited/ )
I’ve wanted to go to Portugal, specifically the Azors — my father’s parents were from there and it’s on my list of places to see one day.
Some wonderful ideas for trips to add to my list! Thank you so much for sharing 🙂 My post is here if you want to stop by!
I haven’t seen much of mainland Spain – I want to see more of it at some point. I’d like to see Seville.
Oh, I’ve always wanted to visit the National Naval Aviation Museum! How fun! Loved your pictures, Kate!
Thank you, Mary! I’ll never forget that vacation.
