I was so excited to see this topic. My favorite holiday is Halloween! It was always a big one at my house not only because it’s such a fun holiday, but because it’s also my mother’s birthday. Growing up, I remember Halloween always being an anticipated event. For years my family had a yearly Halloween party, and everyone would be in costume. My sister-in-law always made the best Halloween-themed food that made everyone smile.
These days we don’t have big family parties, I have small ones with my immediate family. To me Halloween is always a time to celebrate. I decorate my home (some decorations I love so much that they stay out all year long) and make Halloween and autumn-themed food. While I’m a huge fan of horror movies any time of the year, watching them in October makes them even more fun.
When it comes to making food, I can follow a recipe, but it’s rare that I make up my own. This is a really simple one that I enjoy (not sure it can actually be considered a recipe). I don’t drink, so this is one of my favorite alcohol-free refreshments with a Halloween twist.
- Use sticky paper to draw jack-o-lantern eyes, noses, and mouths.
- Cut out the jack-o-lantern features and stick them to clear glasses or cups.
- Fill the cups with carrot juice.
- Add lemon juice, if desired. I usually squeeze 1 or 2 lemon slices into each cup.
- Sprinkle with black pepper, if desired.
- Add a celery stalk to the glass. Keep the leaves on the stalk for decoration.
Here’s a photo of the finished drink:

Yay! Halloween is my favourite holiday, too.
That drink looks so refreshing. I’ve never had carrot juice before so far as I can recall.

Sounds great! Thanks for sharing! Happy birthday to your mother. <3
Another Halloween lover. Very cool. And I love the drink. A healthy option to counteract all the candy.
I’ve never had carrot juice, but that sounds lovely.
It’s really tasty!
It’s true, not that I don’t love the candy treats!
Thank you, Megan!
Halloween is the best, Lydia! Thank you!
