Those were the days! I did those things too and we played paper dolls a lot.
Some of those are things I’ve never done, not living in snowy areas! Some I did of course. Colleen mentions paper dolls. Remember the “women’s magazine” McCall’s? It had a page with Betsy McCall, a paper doll to cut out along with her clothes and accessories that went with the month, like furry coat or swimming suit. Oh, I loved those even though I didn’t much like dolls. She was like a craft project, which I liked.
I never went to the library with my mother; she bought me books, though. We live in a rural area and didn’t have much of a library back then. I sure used the one in elementary school, though. Things seemed a bit simpler way back then.
I remember rollerskating… no pads and no helmets! But I lived, so it’s all good! I loved your list. It brought back memories.
Thank you, Kim! Life was different back then. It was fun, but looking back I sometimes think “no way!”
I used to enjoy the school library, too. Things were simpler in a lot of ways. In others, not so much. I remember my town had something like two pay phones if you had to make a call when you were out. It’s nice to have the cell phone handy, especially when you’re walking.
I remember paper dolls. I, too, like them better than regular dolls.
Yes, the paper dolls!
