Hi! I’m Pops. My hobbies are sleeping, playing with squeak toys, and finding new ways to push my boundaries. I’m very good at that last one. Yeah, I use my cuteness to my advantage, but what else is a chiweenie to do?
Hey, there. Name? It’s Max, but I only answer to it when it suits me. My favorite place to sleep is in the kitchen doorway, but my human housemates discourage that. Some nonsense about nearly tripping them. Most of the time, I settle for the couch. My favorite snacks are snap peas and apples. Got any handy?
As you can see, I’m outnumbered by canines. It’s annoying at times. They’re not very stealthy, and the bigger one drools when he sees a favorite food. Drools! Can you imagine? The smaller one competes with me for the good spots, like the armchair and the small animal beds. What am I called? I’m not ready to disclose my real name, so you may call me by my nickname–the Wild One. Why The Wild One, you ask? It has something to do with my mysterious past in a feral colony.
Hey. Hey there. I’m speaking for everyone in the crabitat because my two buddies are under the sand molting. Please excuse the blurry picture. Kate has a lousy camera phone, and she doesn’t like to use the flash on our eyes. This month is our fourth year here, just the three of us. We’ve been promised an upgrade from our 40 gallon tank to a 75 gallon one. It will be a nice way to celebrate. That and a hard boiled egg. We love hard boiled eggs.

Awwwww! I love what you did with this post! I have this overwhelming urge to cuddle Pops – something about how he’s looking at the camera in that picture. I haven’t seen anyone mention as interesting a pet as a crab before! I love that you keep them. I used to collect hermit crabs at the beach when I was a kid. I was allowed to bring them home and keep them in the salt water aquarium for a few days before taking them back where I found them and setting them free. I was completely enthralled by them!
Thank you! The crabs were unexpected additions to my family (I was originally pet sitting), and required a lot more care than I imagined, but they are interesting critters!
This was a deliciously snarky-adorable post from the POV of the pet, right on mark! I chuckled several times. And I have to say, I still haven’t figured out why pets must sleep on that one sofa/ spot that you’ve forbidden them to sleep on. Why!? ?
Oh, too funny!
I didn’t know anyone had pet crabs. That’s awesome.
Very cute!!
Sooo cute. Great post. Fun to read, and a wonderful way to show off their unique personalities.
Good post. I love your pets.
Thank you, Tanith!
Hi, Shari! Thank you!
Thank you, Megan!
Thank you, Lydia! They were unexpected for me, at first, too.
