I’m excited to say that my science fiction romance Warrior Priest was released today.
This excerpt starts off where last week’s left off. Selena has talked Jade into going for a moonlight swim. 🙂

“Happy now?” He glowered.
“Yes.”
“Good. I’m not.”
“Are you ever?” She swept her hair behind her ears and walked toward him, her heartbeat quickening.
She probably shouldn’t have goaded him into this—truly she hadn’t expected him to give in and join her. Now that he had, she wasn’t going to miss the opportunity to get to know him better.
Jade stood waist deep in water, gazing into Selena’s guileless blue eyes and trying to make sense of the emotions corrupting him.Â
That’s 10 sentences, but here’s a bit more, if you’d like to read it.
Standing so close to this half-naked woman reminded him of the moment before combat. His heartbeat and breathing quickened. Excitement coursed through him. All that was missing was the fear that he might lose his life. This was a different and in some ways a far greater fear—one that he might lose his soul. At least his life he would give willingly. What he felt for her was completely unexpected and not something he had chosen.
Unlike him, Selena seemed perfectly fine, as if it were natural for her to be standing here in her undergarments, gazing at him like an uninhibited angel from the holy book.
“We haven’t had much time alone to talk,” she ventured.
“We’ve been working.”
“I know, but I’d still like to know more about you and your Order.”
“If you’d like an account of our history, I’d be glad to—”
“I’m sure that’s interesting, but that’s not what I meant.”
She stared at his arm and brushed her fingertips over the skin near his newest brand. Her touch made him tingle.

Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.
