For this week’s excerpt, I’m skipping ahead in my science fiction romance Warrior Priest. Jade and other priests have been sent to a less advanced planet called Lemo. It has many untapped natural resources and is under attack by the Kimbrians. Jade and his brothers are there to defend the planet. He and two other priests have been missing after being shot down over the ice caves of Lemo. They are finally located, but not out of danger. Meanwhile, Selena is back at the Commune. Most of her brothers and sisters are trying to support her, but a priest called Gabe who loathes soldiers in general, can’t restrain his bitterness.
Thank you for stopping by!
The Order was doing their best to reach them, but it could take days or even weeks more. More than anything, not knowing if Jade was one of the survivors tore at Selena. That evening at a ritual before dinner, the commune members sent positive thoughts to the priests and others on Lemo, including Ned, who had gone to help rebuild villages that had already been reclaimed from the Kimbrians. They asked the spirits of nature to protect them.
After the ritual, the members sat down to dinner.
“That is good news about the trapped priests.” Bryce glanced at Selena with sympathy. “There’s hope for Jade.”
“If he’s one of the survivors,” Gabe said lightly.
Selena gritted her teeth and ignored him.
That’s 10 sentences, but here’s a bit more, if you’d like to see if Selena keeps her cool. 🙂
“Yes, they’ve been located, but it still sounds precarious,” Delia said. “They’ve been trapped without food for how long?”
“Let’s focus on the positive.” Amber glanced at Selena who had stopped eating.
Though thrilled to know there was still hope for Jade, she couldn’t stand the thought of him going hungry. Food was one of the few indulgences he allowed himself.
“This is a good lesson to us all.” Gabe cast a haughty look toward Selena. “Those who live by violence bring violence on themselves. Perhaps those priests will learn a valuable lesson about humanity and humility.”
Selena turned and slapped Gabe’s face hard.
Warrior Priest
(Science Fiction Romance)
What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?
Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.
Selena is both attracted and appalled by his old school masculinity, and Jade is tempted to break his vow of celibacy until marriage due to his powerful desire for her. Will this unlikely pair not only find common ground, but unconditional love?
Warrior Priest is available for pre-order at Amazon / Apple Books / Barnes & Noble / kobo / Smashwords

Good for her, although I’m sure it’ll upset her fellow priests and priestesses. She’s in a hard place, not knowing for sure about Jade. Great snippet.
So, no. She doesn’t keep her cool. And I don’t blame her!
Good girl, Selena!

Well done, girl. I’d have slapped him, too! But I wonder how Gabe will react…
Good for her!! He deserved it.
Gabe had it coming! Great scene. 🙂
Sorry for the very late comment. No post for me this week. Husband had an extended hospital stay with a lot of bad things going on.
