This week’s topic for the Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is “the worst advice I ever received.”
When I was a kid, I had an after school job at a store. One of the supervisors liked to mess with people, sort of throw his weight around. He wasn’t a bad guy, but one of those who sometimes got a little overly enthusiastic about his position. A relative told me to tell him the next time he gives me trouble, I’d break his kneecap, and if he ignored me, then actually do it. Needless to say, I knew better than to act in a way that would get me fired at best and arrested at worst!
Still, thinking about what the supervisor’s face would look like if I had actually followed the advice was so funny that it made dealing with him easier, so I at least managed to pull something good out of bad advice!
What bad advice have you received, and did you use it?

My husband’s advice when I was dealing with an arrogant jerk of a coworker was that I should tell him to #@*! off. Funnily enough, I never did that, because I knew it would get me in trouble. Easy advice when it’s not him who has to do it!
Sheesh! What a thing to say.
Great story. I love how the advice not taken did give you a way to deal with it.
I had an uncle that would spout things out sometimes and I would go “did you listen to what you just said?” cause it was things similar to that.
