Fun? You Call This Fun? #MFRWHooks #sciencefictionromance

Posted on May 25, 2022May 16, 2022 by Kate

Welcome to the MFRW Book Hooks Blog Hop.

I’m sharing another snippet from my science fiction romance Warrior Priest. It is on sale for $0.99 until June 16, 2022.

In this snippet, Jade is feeling hot and Selena enjoys the rain. 🙂

Don’t forget to check out more excerpts from authors in the MFRW Book Hooks Blog Hop.

Thank you!

Selena took a few steps to the left. “Are you coming?”

Jade held up his hand for silence. His eyes narrowed.

“What’s wrong?” she asked.

“I thought I heard something.”

“Like what? I didn’t hear anything at all.”

He remained quiet for another long moment.

“Jade, if you want to go the other way, that’s fine. I know you need to lead all the time.”

“What’s that supposed to mean? Did you have any better ideas after we crashed?”

A smile played around her lips. “I thought we landed.”

He curled his lip and trudged past her down the corridor to the left.

After a while, the ground grew rockier and the slope steeper. The sound of running water broke the stillness. The corridor opened into a vast cave where a waterfall emptied into a river that flowed down a tunnel so low they would need to swim underwater to pass through it.

“Obviously this is the wrong way,” Selena said. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t worry about it. At least we know the other way leads out. It was a fun hike.”

“Fun? You call this fun?”

“I thought you always liked to look on the bright side. What can I say? You’re rubbing off on me.”

“No. You put an end to that before we even got that far.”

His gaze locked on hers. “Selena, does everything have to be sexual with you?”

“Isn’t anything ever sexual with you?”

He strode toward her and stopped so close that they were almost touching. His dark gaze fixed on her with enough intensity to raise her body temperature.

“Once I find the right woman, I’ll be as sexual as she can handle. Guaranteed.”

Blurb:

What happens when a warrior priest from a strict religion meets a free-spirited priestess from a new age commune?

Jade and Selena are as different as two people can be, but to facilitate an alliance between their worlds, they engage in a cultural exchange. With their galaxy in danger from a planet that wants to conquer or destroy all others, they realize the importance of their assignment, but it is difficult for a warrior priest and a nonviolent priestess to understand each other.

Selena is both attracted and appalled by his old school masculinity, and Jade is tempted to break his vow of celibacy until marriage due to his powerful desire for her. Will this unlikely pair not only find common ground, but unconditional love?
