Where are you from?
I’m Lauren McDonald and was born and raised in the small town of Sommerville.
What is your job?
I am a teacher at Sommerville Elementary School.
Do you have any special powers or skills?
My students say I have a scary teacher squint. My BFF says I’m resourceful.
What is your main goal/quest in life?
I have wanted to find a Christmas angel just like the one my mom had until she gave it to my sister even though I’d asked for it first.
Who is your closest friend?
Alexandra Engle, who is regal like a Russian czarina and brainy like an Encyclopedia Britannica. Men love her.
Describe yourself in three words.
Sensible. Resourceful. Kind.
Do you have pets?
Yes, I have a sweet cat, Skeet.
What is your favorite food?
Christmas cookies. I add chocolate and toffee chips with pecans.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I love Christmas music.
Name one piece of clothing you wouldn’t want to live without.
Christmas sweaters. LOL.
What is the best advice anyone ever gave you?
My BFF is full of advice: Unleash your inner glamour. Sometimes, the male species acts obnoxious when they’re interested. Life is messy.
What is your idea of a perfect date?
Not one with Smith Hancock. We “volunteered” to man the Library Book Drive, unfortunately as Mr. and Mrs. Claus. Will people think we’re married?
What makes you happy?
Finding my angel.
What makes you angry?
When the angel was snatched from under my nose and the boor who took it said, “You snooze, you lose.”
How do you like to spend your free time?
Reading a great book.
What is the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Lending Smith the Christmas angel.

Excerpt The Littlest Angel:
Bright and early on Saturday morning at the Sommerville fairgrounds, I slowly strolled along an aisle at my favorite flea market, pausing to look at special goodies that caught my eye. I halted when I saw a woman several booths ahead of me stoop in front of a table and drag a box to her feet. She reached inside the ragged cardboard container and pulled out something I knew deep, deep within my heart what I hoped to find for many years—a little Christmas angel.
I always hoped I would find a replacement and searched the dusty aisles of the Automobile Building, where the market set up the first weekend of every month. I dug through many a ripped carton or dirty bag and never saw anything close—until today.
Pressing my hands to my chest, I begged quietly, “Please. Please don’t take her. Please don’t.”
