Reluctant time travelers Sefu, Tiago and Zandra land in Romania in 1686. After the trio’s experience in the old west, Tiago refuses to mingle with humans again, but his companions have other plans.
A wealthy family of vampires threatens a nearby village, demanding human sacrifices to satisfy their bloodlust. Vamps might be the legendary lords of sex and violence, but they haven’t met Rough, Tough and Tumble.
Although Sefu, Tiago and Zandra are shapeshifters, they learn that the vampires aren’t what they appear to be. Once again Rough, Tough and Tumble exercise their seduction skills and confront their innermost fears while doing battle in the past.
The following excerpt from BLOOD, SEX AND LEERS is for readers 18 and over.
Sefu approached and braced a hand near her head on the wall. His lips hovered over hers and he saw her trembling from the cold and wished he’d brought something to cover her.
“Get away from me,” Zandra said.
Shifting into his true form, he smiled faintly and said, “Are you sure about that, sweetheart?”
He could almost feel her relief. Her eyes closed momentarily and she sighed.
Then their gazes locked and she breathed, “Sefu.”
“I’m sorry we didn’t get here sooner, Zandra. You’re so cold, love.” He caressed her cheek. Lifting his gaze to the chains suspended from the ceiling, he pulled on her bonds.
“The key is only to the cell,” Zandra said. “Claudiu has the key to my chains.”
“Don’t worry about it.” Sefu tugged the chains to test their strength.
“You won’t be able to –”
Grunting, Sefu yanked the chains, tearing them from the ceiling.
Zandra’s arms dropped and she staggered. If he hadn’t caught her she’d have fallen.
“We gladiators are pretty strong,” he reminded her, holding her close and caressing her hair.
Tilting her face toward his she said, “Strong guys are sexy. Can you do anything about these?”
She held up her wrists bound in silver cuffs.
Sefu grasped one cuff and slid his fingers underneath. The silver affected him as well and while touching it he couldn’t adjust the size of his fingers to accommodate the small space. Truly he wasn’t sure if he could break the silver, not without getting a better grip.
His eyes closed, he pulled hard.
“You bent it,” she said, twisting her hand. “I think I can slide my wrist out. Yes!”
Sefu opened his eyes and watched her shake out her wrist. It was scraped and red from being suspended overhead for so long.
Within moments he freed her from the other cuff.
“Why couldn’t they use iron cuffs like normal people?” Zandra muttered.
“I don’t think there’s anything normal about this bunch. They’re all crazy.”
“Where’s Tiago?”
“Where do you think? He’s mingling with the crazies. They invited him to dinner. We’re their houseguests–at least Tiago is. I’m just his pet wolf.”
“Huh?”
“I’ll explain later. Do you have the strength to shift shape?”
Zandra shook her head. “I don’t think so. Sefu, I don’t feel very good.”
“You’ll be all right. All we have to do is get out of here without being seen.” He changed into the hairy ape creature he’d imitated when they’d first arrived. Sweeping her into his arms, he made his way down the corridor.
“Sefu, this isn’t exactly an inconspicuous shape.”
“I don’t give a damn. Let them try to stop me from taking you out of here.”
He strode up the steps leading to the kitchen and rammed his shoulder into the door. It flew off its hinges.
