She grasped my shoulders and stared deeply into my eyes. “Caleb, he’ll kill you.”
“To refuse this challenge is to sacrifice leadership. We’ll be banished.”
“Then we’ll go. I’d rather leave the pack with you alive then stay here with only your memory to love.”
If she stayed with the pack, Mette would surely make her life miserable.
“There’s still a chance that I’ll kill him, too. If I don’t make it, do what you must to stay safe.”
